The FA has informed the league that the season can be extended.
In the exceptional circumstances, with the weather causing mass postponements of games throughout the season, the FA has said that all league and play-off games must now be completed by May 11.
The original end date was Bank Holiday Monday, May 6 (the date the league had originally planned for the Division One play-off final).
The FA has also said that fixtures can be reversed – that is where a game is played at the club which is nominally the away team – as long as that ground is playable.
Given the continuing uncertainty over when fixtures will/can be played, we stand ready to re-assess the dates for the play-offs.
League chairman Glenn Youngman said:
“Extending the season is an essential move, as otherwise it was difficult to see how some of our teams could have completed their fixtures. Even with these changes, it will still be a challenge for some of them.
“As ever, we’re grateful for all the hard work by staff and volunteers at clubs as they try to complete their fixtures. It’s an exceptional effort by them, in exceptional circumstances.”
