Tonight is our penultimate game of the season as we welcome Whickham FC to the Daren Persson Stadium for the last home fixture of the 2023/24 season.

The Robins going into the contest on the back of two midweek games already, both resulting in 2-1 defeats against Birtley Town and Crook Town despite playing some great football in both fixtures and had chances been taken the results may have been somewhat different.

On Wednesday night, we hosted Crook Town, taking the lead through a superb solo effort from Will McCamley who had too much pace for his opponent, driving into the penalty before cutting inside and curling an effort into the top far corner. The visitors drew level when Archie Leonard finished on the half hour mark, the calls for offside dismissed by the match officials. The winner for the hosts came in the 89th minute, when Drew Lake turned on the edge of the area before picking out the top corner and denying the Robins a share of the spoils.

Our visitor’s tonight were also in midweek action, as they were finalists against West Auckland Town in the Durham Challenge Cup at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. Their opponents on the night ran out 3-0 winners with goals from Joshua Scott, James Harrison and Oscar Fletcher.

When the two sides met earlier in the season back in August, at the Glebe Sports Ground, it was Whickham who ran out 2-0 winners after a quick fire double just before from Scott Robson and Callum Munro to secure the win.

We hope that you can join us to cheer on the lads in our last home game of the season, reminder it’s a 7pm kick off. If you are not able to join us, updates will be available via social media @northshieldsfc
