Captain and Vice Captain Announced

North Shields Football Club are delighted to announce that Daniel Iredale has named defender Anthony Myers as our new Club Captain and Midfielder Connor Oliver as our new vice captain.

Myers has been a mainstay in the Robins defence, showcasing his natural leadership abilities and commitment to the club on and off the pitch. The 37-year-old has amassed more than 70 appearances in a Robins shirt and isn’t a stranger to the armband, having worn it on multiple occasions last season. Myers has also turned out for Seaham Red Star, Hebburn Town and being a long serving player at Jarrow Roofing during his career he has picked up a number of awards including Player of the Year and Players’ Player in. The versatile defender can also play in the centre of midfield and is very commanding, great in the air, a great passer of the ball and strong in the tackle.

Connor will become the club’s vice-captain. Connor began his career with Sunderland and after progressing thorough the youth teams before joining Hartlepool United.

Oliver signed for championship side Blackpool in 2015 where he went onto make 10 appearances before joining league 2 side Morecambe on loan.

The defender / midfielder then featured for North Ferriby, Halifax Town, Blyth Spartans and most recently Morpeth Town. The 28 year old made 24 appearances for Morpeth and brings bag loads of quality to the
