New Signings

North Shields Football Club are delighted to announce the addition of some new faces to the squad ahead of our EBAC Northern League Division One Campaign.

Garon Garside – Defender

Joins the Robins from Whickham. Was a part of Ryhope CW’s Durham Challenge Cup winning squad. The versatile central defender can play as part of a back three if required. Neat on the ball, composed and has an eye for goal.

Wayne Phillips – Midfielder

A two-time FA Vase winner is a left winger who has donned the shirt for Blyth Spartans and Whitley Bay, before joining Gateshead and scoring the winner in the 2009 National League North Play-off Final.

The former Harrogate Town and Jarrow Roofing man joined Spennymoor and lifted the FA Vase in 2013, while also securing promotion from the Northern League.

Phillips enjoyed two seasons at South Shields – lifting five trophies and earning Man of the Match in the 2017 FA Vase final. He then appeared 163 times for Morpeth Town, helping The Highwaymen to the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division title and Northumberland Senior Cup.

Jack Leonard- Midfielder

The former Hartlepool youngster joins North Shields FC with lots of North East footballing experience after his release at Hartlepool in 2020 before he was picked up by local side Morpeth Town.

Ben Gaffney – Defender

The young utility player rejoins the Robins after stints with West Allotment Celtic and Ashington. He is a product of Tyne Metropolitan College and New Hartley Juniors. He was a member of Northumberland Schools, Northern Counties Championship winning squad

Luke Salmon – Defender

A versatile player, who possesses great power and speed. Strong in the air as well with the ball at his feet. A real threat for opponents, with endless amounts of energy allowing him to recover and provide defensive cover with a competitive edge and strong in the tackle.

Thomas McIntyre – Midfielder

Joins the Robins from Birtley Town, competitive midfield player with a great engine. Young lad with lots of potential. Made one appearance for the Robins last season, coming on as a substitute at Long Eaton United.

Kyle Downey – Midfielder

Versatile central midfielder, possesses brilliant technical ability, has plenty of Northern League experience to bring to the side as has previously played for Ashington and Whitley Bay – along with Ryton & Crawcrook Albion.
