Ryan Carr scored twice, with Paul Robinson adding a third, as North Shields were held to an entertaining 3-3 pre-season draw at home to Blyth Town.
After a goalless first half, Carr gave Shields the lead straight after the restart from the centre of the penalty area, catching the visitors cold.
But after being pegged back, the Robins then found themselves a goal down, following a back post header from a corner.
Well taken late goals from Carr and Robinson handed Shields a 3-2 lead with only moments to spare in the game.
However, a quick break on the Shields goal resulted in another equaliser for Blyth, leaving the Robins no time to search for a winner.
Blyth Town almost take the lead after only five minutes, when a low cross into the box was almost turned home at the far post.
The Northern Alliance side came even closer in the 13th minute, only for a slight deflection from a defender taking the ball inches past the left-hand post.
It took until the 19th minute for Shields to test the Blyth back line, with Jamie Clark firing wide following Andrew Cartwright’s pin point cross into the box.
The hosts were beginning to warm into the game, with Cartwright’s corner kick bouncing off the head of Clark before flying over the crossbar after 22 minutes of play.
However, Blyth were still looking dangerous on the attack, with the Robins’ trialist goalkeeper palming away a strong shot from a visiting attacker in the 29th minute.
Approaching the final ten minutes of the half, both teams were pushing hard, with Dan Wilson’s attempted chip picked out of the air by the Blyth shot-stopper.
The returning Robins striker almost gave Shields the lead on the stroke of half time after beating his marker, but his angled shot whistled over the crossbar.
Whatever Nashy said to his players at the break did wonders as only a minute into the second period, substitute Kyle Patton squared the ball to Ryan Carr, who hammered home from the centre of the box.
However, Blyth responded well and after snatching the ball in centre of the park, a good pass released the forward on goal, who fired the ball into the back of the net.
Not long after Patton had struck the post for Shields in the 52nd minute, Robinson worked a great chance for the hosts, but he curled his shot from the edge of the area wide.
And they were made to pay for these missed chances as it was Blyth who took the lead, when a looping corner was headed in at the far post by the visiting centre back.
The Robins were pressing forward in search of a leveller, but in the 69th minute, Carr could only send his shot into the welcoming arms of the Blyth keeper.
However, only a minute later, they had a deserved equaliser when Robinson’s effort from a tight angle took a slight deflection before finding the back of the net.
With Blyth legs tiring, the hosts began to take advantage and in the 77th minute, Carr grabbed his second of the game with a low finish which left the keeper rooted to the spot.
But Blyth were not done and with five minutes left on the clock, the hosts were caught by a lightning quick break on goal, with the away attacker firing low into the net, beyond Purvis’ reach.
In what was becoming an entertaining end to the game, the Robins were brilliantly denied a fourth goal by the excellent reflexes of the visiting keeper, who denied Bainbridge one on one.
And despite pressuring the Blyth goal with seconds to spare, the referee brought the game to an end.
