With the countdown started to our last 16 tie in this season’s FA Vase, let’s take a look at this weekend’s fixture and our opponents, Whitchurch Alport.
As the hype builds up and the game gets closer by the day, another big day is in store as the Robins look to add another entertaining chapter to their history in this competition.
The Robins come into the contest of on the back of once again winning the Robin way, coming from behind to win 2-1 against West Didsbury & Chorton, Lee Mason and Lewis Suddick swing the game the Robins way in front of 647 in attendance including new supporter ‘Big Meeks’ Micah Richards.

The Shropshire based team were formed in 1946 in the season that followed the end of World War ll, the club taking its name from nearby Alport Farm, which was home to local footballer, Coley Maddox, who sadly lost his life during WWll.
They currently play in the Midlands Premier Division and reside in 10th place in the table.
Players to watch for Alport are Harry Bower and Callum Knowles who have 11 goals a piece this season. Which sees the pair responsible for almost a third of all goals scored this season.
Their run in this season’s FA Vase competition has seen them defeat Coalville Town, Lincoln United and Clay Cross Town to reach the last 16.

The postcode of the stadium is NE29 0SS. Some limited parking spaces can be found at the stadium and there is plenty and free street parking on West Percy Road adjacent to the stadium.
By the Tyne & Wear Metro
Tyneside is well served by a light rail system known as the Tyne & Wear Metro. North Shields is easily accessible from Newcastle City Centre from Monument station where trains to the Coast go via North Shields. The Daren Persson Stadium is served by two stops, Meadow Well (5 minutes’ walk) or North Shields (10 minutes’ walk).

The 306 & 307 bus service from Newcastle City Centre (Haymarket Bus Station) to Tynemouth runs within close proximity to the stadium. The stadium is located off Waterville Road (East).
