With the dust settled from Saturday’s heroics as the Robins advanced to the last 16 of the Isuzu FA Vase, setting up a home tie against Whitchurch Alport, the Robins refocus their attention to their league campaign as they welcome Easington Colliery to the Daren Persson Stadium.
Our visitors for this evening’s game sit in 15th place in the league table, Saturday gone they entertained Newcastle Benfield, winning 4-3 in the process, the game tied at 2-2 with less than 15 minutes to play, Benfield will have thought they had won it when Noah Millington gave them the lead in 80th minute, however, Easington managed to turn the game on its head with goals from Dylan Elliot in the 83rd minute before Ryan Taylor’s winner in the 88th minute.
The Robins once again found the North Shields way to advance in this season’s Isuzu FA Vase competition with former premier league star turned TV pundit Micah Richards a part of the 647 in attendance at the Daren persson Stadium.
West Didsbury & Chorlton providing the opposition for the occasion, its was the Manchester based side that took the lead just after the break with a sublime strike from Thomas Murray, which increased the volume of the away support tenfold. However, as it has been so many times in recent season’s, The Robins did it the North Shields way, two goals in quick succession from Lee Mason and Lewis Suddick turned the game on its head, silencing the travelling support.
The previous meeting this season between the two sides was on the opening day, Will McCamley and Jamie Holmes gave the Robins a two goal lead at half time before a late resurgence from the hosts saw them draw through former Robin Brad Hird and Mark Davison as the game finished 2-2.
