After our last couple of games were called off due to the freezing weather, the Robins look ahead to what’ll be the first Shields game played in 2026.
We face an hour-long commute to the top of the league, Guisborough Town, who we played very recently on 20th December.
The last meeting between the sides saw the Robins suffer a 3-0 defeat to Guisborough, who looked sharp on the attack and a threat in front of goal. Guisborough has been top of the league since match 14, and after knocking off Northallerton Town on Boxing Day, doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon.
Shield has had their own encounter with a top side recently. The last game Shields played was against the then 3rd placed Whitley Bay, which we came out on top after Stephen Hall’s cool finish inside the box. Results haven’t slowed down; Shields’ only defeat since October was against our next opponents, Guisborough.
Captain Stephen Hall’s return from injury is sure to give the Robins a boost in attack, and after scoring on his first game back, he looks ready to make an impact on Shields’ playoff hopes.
There’s no club sponsored coach for the game, so you’ll need to make your own travel plans if you wish to attend. As always, we hope to see you there, and thank you for all of your support!
