Trio recognised for their service

North Shields FC were joined by Alex Smailes from Northumberland FA as he presented club chairman Alan Matthews, Deputy Chairman Trevor Campbell & Treasurer Mike Taylor all special awards for 25 years service to the club & to the game.

Below are some words from the Northumberland FA representative:

It was a great pleasure to be asked to present the 25 year Northumberland Long Service Awards to three greatly respected members of North Shields Football Club.

The efforts of Alan, Trevor and Mike are the perfect examples of the type of volunteer work done by many people within Northumberland and when 25 years is completed, by anyone, it should be recognised and having three people from one club achieving that milestone it says quite a bit for the standing of the club itself and the loyalty shown by those three previously mentioned people and they are ” The salt of the earth” and clubs could not run without the efforts of people like that.

North Shields had a bad time of it following leaving Appleby Park but due the efforts the likes of Alan, Trevor and Mike the club has regrouped and we have them playing at the ” Morgue” and with the back up of likes of Bob, Steve, Sean M, Sean R, Joe and Mick plus others means the North Shields are in good hands and have a bright future

Great work by all concerned.

Cheers Alex
