The Robins will be looking to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat when they travel to West Auckland on Saturday at the Wanted Stadium.
North Shields have had a much improved start to the season with strong performances a given for The Robins; an opening day defeat to Sunderland RCA and a victory over Whickham in the league.
West Auckland have seen a difficult start to the season with two defeats to Ashington (2-1), Newcastle Benfield (2-3) and a draw to Ryhope CW (2-2) in their league campaign. West find themselves 16th placed in the table and have also been beaten in the FA Cup, losing 3-1 to Bridlington Town.
Saturday’s hosts have made a number of signings over the summer, in the hope of bettering their finish last season. Including goalkeeper Tom Flynn, defender Danny Mitton and Joe Hillerby.
The Robins saw a mixed bag of results against West Auckland last season, picking up three points from a possible six. After being beaten with a 1-2 defeat at the Daren Persson Stadium (the goal coming from Gary Day), The Robins enjoyed a 2-1 victory at The Wanted Stadium three days before Christmas with the goals being supplied by Ryan Carr.
With the Robins squad looking to bounce back from the FA Cup defeat to Guisborough, North Shields are looking to pick up where they left off in the league.
Manager Marc Nash spoke ahead of the game and said: “It’s another tough game tomorrow against a very good side but we need a response to the huge disappointment of the FA Cup games. Wednesday could have went either way but in truth we need to show more bravery in possession because although we are working extremely hard, we need to get it down and play because we have talented players. Hopefully we can find the right balance.“
