📰: DEFENSIVE VETERAN JON SHAW JOINS NORTH SHIELDS FC
North Shields FC are thrilled to confirm the signing of experienced defender Jon Shaw ahead of the 2025–26 season.
Shaw, brings a commanding presence and a wealth of experience to the Robins’ back line. With a career that has seen him represent the likes of Gateshead, Luton Town, Sheffield Wednesday, and most recently Dunston UTS, Shaw arrives at the Daren Persson Stadium as both a leader and a proven winner at non-league level. Jon has also managerial experience with Blyth Spartans in 2023-24.
Originally a striker earlier in his career, Shaw transitioned into a central defensive role in recent years, becoming a reliable and composed figure at the back. His understanding of the game, physicality, and leadership qualities make him a key addition as North Shields look to progress further in the Northern League.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Shaw said:
“I’m really pleased to be joining North Shields. It’s a great club with a proud history and passionate supporters. I’m looking forward to getting started and helping the team in any way I can — whether that’s on the pitch or by supporting the younger lads.”
Manager Brian Smith shared his excitement at securing Shaw’s signature:
