MEET THE NEW TEAMS: BLYTH TOWN

🔴 MEET THE NEW TEAMS: BLYTH TOWN

Episode 2 of our 2026/27 preview series

Next up in our look at the new sides joining the division for 2026/27 is a club who, like Bishop Auckland, drop back into Step 5 after a single season higher up — Blyth Town.

📍 Who Are They? Blyth Town have risen quickly through the pyramid in recent years, establishing themselves as a competitive and ambitious club with a strong youth setup and a clear identity. Their rapid climb earned them a place in the Northern Premier League East Division for 2025/26 — the highest level the club has reached.

📉 Last Season Recap Life at Step 4 proved challenging. Blyth Town finished 20th with 41 points, matching Bishop Auckland’s total but falling just short of survival. After one season in the NPL East, they now return to Step 5 looking to stabilise and rebuild.

⬇️ Key Departures While some clubs strengthen after relegation, Blyth Town have suffered two major blows early in the summer window:

Cameron Gascoigne → Heaton Stannington

Cyril Giraud → Heaton Stannington

Both players were central to their attacking threat last season, and their departures leave big gaps to fill.

⚽ What to Expect This Season Blyth Town remain a well‑coached, energetic side with plenty of young talent.

Expect:

– A team that plays on the front foot

– Strong organisation and work rate

– A squad looking to prove they belong back at Step 4

– A club determined to show last season was a learning curve, not a ceiling

How they replace their two standout players will be key to their early-season form.

📅 When We Face Them Fixture dates for the new season are still to be confirmed — but both meetings promise to be lively, competitive North East clashes.

🔴 That’s Episode 2 of our ‘Meet the New Teams’ series — welcome back to the division, Blyth Town.
