Episode 1 of our 2026/27 preview series
We’re kicking off our brand‑new series looking at the clubs joining our division for the 2026/27 season — and first up is a giant of North East non‑league football, Bishop Auckland.
📍 Who Are They? The Two Blues are one of the most historic sides in the region, boasting a proud legacy, a passionate fanbase, and a reputation for producing talented players. Their home, Heritage Park, remains one of the standout grounds at this level.
📉 Last Season Recap After earning promotion to the Northern Premier League East Division for the 2024/25 campaign, Bishop Auckland spent a single season at Step 4. They finished 19th with 41 points, resulting in relegation back to Step 5 for 2026/27.
Despite the drop, they stayed competitive throughout and now look set to regroup with serious intent.
💼 Busy Summer Already Bishop Auckland haven’t wasted any time strengthening their squad, making several eye‑catching additions:
– Alex Nelson, defender, joins from Whitby Town – Vinnie Steels, attacker, arrives from Stockton Town – Arron Thompson, midfielder, signs from Hebburn Town – Shane Bland, experienced goalkeeper, also comes in from Whitby Town
A clear statement that they’re aiming high this season.
âš˝ What to Expect This Season With Step 4 experience throughout the squad and fresh quality added early, Bishop Auckland will be viewed as one of the sides to watch. Expect:
– A strong, physical, organised team
– Players with higher‑level pedigree
– A big travelling support
– A club determined to bounce back quickly
They’ll be targeting the top end of the table.
