MATCH REPORT: Shields gain a vital three points

Match Report

North Shields v West Allotment Celtic

Saturday 16th August

EBAC Northern League Division 1

Daren Persson Stadium

North Shields 2 – 0 West Allotment Celtic

North Shields were back in home league action looking to pick up their first victory since the

opening weekend as we welcomed West Allotment Celtic to the Daren Persson Stadium.

Carter Milmore, recently signed on loan from Gateshead FC, was given his debut pairing

with Blair Adams in the heart of the defence.

North Shields almost had the perfect start as a corner was whipped in and almost went

straight in, Stephen Hall was on hand to head the rebound into the net but was adjudged to

have committed a foul so the game stayed level. Within a few minutes, more chances had

come and went as North Shields were unlucky not to take an early lead. The home side

didn’t have long until they did take the lead though, a dangerous ball was played into the

box, Luke Carr controlled well and fired home.

West Allotment began to settle a little more into the game and had a good chance to

equalise as a free header at the back post from an outswinging free kick was headed wide.

The best chance to equalise fell just a few minutes before half time as Callum Elliott made a

fine stop with the ball heading towards the top corner of the goal.

Into the 2nd half North Shields knew another goal was needed early and it didn’t take long

for one to arrive. Lewis Suddick picked up a loose ball in the middle of the park, the ball

bounced kindly for him as he let fly from 30 yards out and the ball nestled into the back of

the net giving the goalkeeper no chance. A tremendous strike to double the lead. Despite a

few good chances to further their lead, North Shields were happy to see out the game and

secure the 3 points and a clean sheet.

A difficult decision to pick MOTM following quite a few solid performances saw Reece

Wanless pick up the prize. Next up we travel to Crook Town on Wednesday night as we look

for back to back league wins.
