‘Robins bounce back in emphatic style’

GOAL NORTH SHIELDS 2-0 Carlisle City – Jordan Lashley ‘7
With the dust hardly settling from the opening goal the Robins had their second of the evening, winning the ball back immediately from the restart, the ball worked to Lashley, who was able to fire home with an effort towards the front post and double the lead.
With less than 10 minutes on the clock, the Robins almost had their third, McCamley with a great ball across the face of goal, no Shields players on hand to tap home.

Dean Holmes was presented with the opportunity to add a fourth of the evening just before the break, dragging his effort wide of the target.
The Robins did have the ball in the back of the net for the fourth of the evening or so they thought, Lee Mason with the finish only to have been judged to be offside in the build up.
A brilliant first half performance from the Robins blowing their opponents out of the water from the first whistle. A comfortable performance and well deserved lead going into the break.
The second half started where the first left off, Lashley on the attack, his cross into the penalty evading all in red.
The visitors forced a good save out of Kyle Hayes, only to have been judged offside in the build up.
Nick Cassidy replaced Liam Marrs in defence for the Robins with the first change of the evening.
With 20 minutes left of the clock, Carlisle ventured in search of a way back into the game. Nick Cassidy with a crucial block to stop the Sky Blues from pulling one back.
Another chance for the visitors, a good ball across the face of goal, the effort unable to be directed goal bound as it bounced behind for a goal kick.
Kyle Hayes was called into action as he was required to come out and collect a cross into the penalty area to halt another Carlisle attack.
Shields continued to look dangerous on the attack as they had all night, came to close adding a fourth, another good ball across the face of goal but nobody on hand to provide the finish required.
GOAL NORTH SHIELDS 4-0 Carlisle City – Jordan Lashley ‘81
Putting the game to bed, Lashley got his second of the evening and the Robins fourth, picking out the bottom corner from the edge of the area, rounding off a brilliant performance from the Robins.
Kyle Hayes pulled off a superb fingertip save to keep his clean sheet intact before making a series of saves to stop the visitor’s getting a consolation goal.
The match official brought the proceedings to an end in what was a fantastic display from the Robins, particularly the first half, where the quick fire start and early goals gave the Robins a platform to build from.
Fair play to Carlisle, who continued to battle on and created a number of chances late on but the damage was already done.
Next up for the Robins, the Robins change their focus to the FA Vase when they welcome Charnock Richard to the FA Vase.
