With preseason done and dusted, it’s time for the real stuff to start as we welcome Seaham Red Star to the Daren Persson Stadium in our opening fixture of the 2023/24 campaign.
A strong end to preseason sees the lads in good spirits going into the opening weekend, with good wins against Knaresborough Town and Alnwick Town respectively. The new recruits have settled in well to their new surroundings and everybody involved will be waiting in anticipation for what the new season holds.
Our visitors to the Daren Persson Stadium, have gone through their own preseason campaign undefeated with draws against Dunston UTS and Redcar Town, and a win against Washington.
Our opponents finished last season in 16th place, 1 point above the relegation zone. If previous meetings between the two sides are anything to go by, the Star always make it a difficult afternoon’s work and let you know you’re in for a battle, if you want to come away from the game with the points.
The two sides did meet last season in the Daren Persson Stadium, in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup, with the Robins running out 2-0 winners courtesy of a Cam Cunningham brace. A Callum Elliot sublime save full stretch to his left, denied the visitors an almost certain equalizer with just minutes left on the clock.

By Car
The postcode of the stadium is NE29 0SS. Some limited parking spaces can be found at the stadium and there is plenty and free street parking on West Percy Road adjacent to the stadium.
By the Tyne & Wear Metro
Tyneside is well served by a light rail system known as the Tyne & Wear Metro. North Shields is easily accessible from Newcastle City Centre from Monument station where trains to the Coast go via North Shields. The Daren Persson Stadium is served by two stops, Meadow Well (5 minutes’ walk) or North Shields (10 minutes’ walk).
By Bus
The 306 & 310 bus service from Newcastle City Centre (Haymarket Bus Station) to Tynemouth runs within close proximity to the stadium. The stadium is located off Waterville Road (East).
