Saturday sees cup fever kick in once again as the Robins are off to the seaside as they take on league leaders Redcar Athletic at Green Lane in the Isuzu FA Vase Third Round.
Brian Smith’s side is just 7 points behind Saturday’s counterparts in the league standings but all things league oriented go out of the window and we all know anything can happen in cup football.
For our hosts on Saturday, who entered the competition at the Second Qualifying Round stage, this will be their first game at home in the competition having seen off West Auckland Town, Prudhoe YC Seniors and Whickham all away from home.
The Robins, having started the competition in the 1st Qualifying Round, find themselves at this point in the competition with wins over Redcar Town, Billingham Town, Wakefield AFC and Charnock Richard.
The two sides met already in the league this season, the Robins running out 3-1 winners with Dan Waldon (x2) and Will McCamley on target.
