Match Preview: North Shields v Seaham Red Star (28/08/2019)

North Shields will be looking to continue their impressive current run of form as they welcome Seaham Red Star to the Daren Persson Stadium tomorrow evening.

After picking up a point on the road at West Auckland Town, the Robins impressed at home in the rain as they overcame Shildon AFC 3-1, courtesy of goals from Connor Campbell, Paul Van Zandvliet and Gareth Bainbridge.

The Robins, who currently find themselves in 11th place, now host a Seaham Red Star side which has struggled at times this season.

Tomorrow’s guests are currently placed 15th in the Northern League Division One table and have a record on one win, one draw, and three losses. However, they enjoyed plenty of success against Shields last season, winning at the DPS 2-1 before winning at the Ferguson Motor Repairs Stadium 2-0

There are also a number of familiar faces who now line up for the Star. Goalkeeper Chris Bannon, winger Sean McRoberts and striker Dan Wilson are amongst those names who are set to face up against their former side tomorrow afternoon.

Despite a difficult start to the season, the Star will be travelling to NE29 on the back of an impressive 3-1 win over high-flying Guisborough Town in the FA Cup Preliminary Round. Despite falling behind to a Mason McNeill strike, efforts from Richard Coulson, Dan Wilson and Morgan Dart helped Seaham progress to the next round where they will face Witton Albion.

One name who may not feature for the Robins in this fixture is captain Adam Forster, who was forced off with a shoulder injury at half time against Shildon. There are also questions marks over centre backs Wayne Buchanan and Rhys Williams who were both unavailable last Wednesday.
