Match Preview: North Shields v Bedlington Terriers

The Robins enter the second half of their pre-season campaign with a home friendly against Bedlington Terriers.

It has been mixed fortunes so far for the Robins after two wins and two losses from their opening four pre-season fixtures, the latest of which was a 2-1 win away at Jarrow with the goals coming from Paul Van Zandvliet and a trialist.

However, three of the next four pre-season games are at home and the Robins will be looking to impress infront of their home fans with the regular season only weeks away.

Managed by David Leightley, the Terriers have seen a number of squad changes over the summer after several members of their first team squad elected to move on.

However, after an impressive recruitment drive, their strong squad has looked to compete against Northern League Division One sides over pre-season, with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Newcastle Benfield and a 4-1 loss against Ashington.

After finishing 14th last season, Leightley’s men will be looking to push further up the Division Two table and challenge amogst the promotion hopefuls.

Tomorrow will be another opportunity for the Robins squad to play against tough opposition ahead of their season opener away against Sunderland RCA.
