Current League Position: 6th

Tomorrow is NON LEAGUE DAY and we have a cracking game in store as we welcome Kendal Town to the Daren Persson Stadium.

Football returns to the Daren Persson Stadium after a short break due to no scheduled game since our last outing, when we entertained Newcastle Benfield in a captivating 2-2 draw, The Lions took the lead early doors through Aiden Haley before the Robins drew level through Curtis Coppen, just on the stroke of half time, the Lions retook the lead through Noah Millington, the Robins drew back level once more again through Curtis Coppen rising highest inside the penalty area to head the Robins level.

Our opponents for tomorrow’s game, make their second trip of the week to these neck of the woods having faced Newcastle Blue Star at Scotswood on Tuesday night, losing 1-0 on the night, prior to Tuesday night’s defeat the Mintcaked were unbeaten in four, picking up wins against Seaham Red Star, Northallerton Town and Carlisle City as well as picking up a good point at Dean Street, the home of Shildon.

When the two sides met earlier in the season, it was the mintcakes who came out victorious back in October, James Bailey opening the scoring with just over a quarter of an hour played before Niall Cowperthwaite doubled their lead on the hour mark, Ben Harmison gave the Robins a glimpse of hope of rescuing something from the game as he reduced the deficit in stoppage time but it was too little too late as the hosts were able to hang on.

We hope that you can join us to cheer on the lads, if not, you can follow the action as it happens via our live match updates @northshieldsfc
