This coming Saturday see’s our venture in this season’s FA Cup begin when we travel to our old friends Ashington.
This will be our opponents first competitive fixture of their campaign after completing their preseason campaign with a home defeat to Northern Premier League – Premier Division outfit Workington Town.
Last season’s FA Cup run saw our hosts reach the Third Qualifying Round beating Newton Aycliffe, Tow Law, Ashton United, Bradford Park Avenue and Stocksbridge Park Steels before bowing out of the competition to Kings Lynn Town of the National League North.
Our own FA Cup journey saw us reach the First Qualifying Round before falling to Bury FC, the game shown live on BBC Red Button. We progressed to that round after seeing off Knaresborough Town and last weekend’s visitor’s Seaham Red Star respectively.
The winner of the contest is rewarded with a trip to Teeside to take on Stockton Town.
Dan Iredale and his team, will look to build on the opening day weekend win last Saturday against Seaham Red Star, with a David Palmer brace and Anth Myers notching without reply.
We hope that you can join us to cheer on the lads, if you are not able to make the game, updates will be available on social media @NorthShieldsFC.
