North Shields Football Club confirm that the use of drums and similar instruments are not permitted at home fixtures.
This decision has been taken following concerns raised by members of the local community regarding noise levels on matchdays, particularly in relation to elderly residents living in close proximity to the ground. As a club, we have a responsibility to be considerate neighbours and to ensure our match days do not have a negative impact on those in the surrounding area.
We recognise that drums and other instruments have traditionally formed part of the matchday atmosphere, and we fully appreciate the passion and enthusiasm shown by visiting supporters. However, this measure has been implemented to strike a balance between maintaining vibrant support and respecting the needs of the local community.
Supporters are encouraged to continue supporting the team vocally and positively in a way that is mindful of our surroundings. The club remains committed to engaging with supporters to explore ways of sustaining a strong and enjoyable matchday environment while addressing the concerns that have been raised.
While the club recognises and values the passion and support shown by its supporters, this measure has been implemented to ensure a balance is maintained between creating a positive matchday atmosphere and meeting our responsibilities as a community-based football club.
In line with the club’s ground regulations, entry to the stadium will not be permitted for any individual in possession of a drum or similar noise-amplifying instrument. Stewards and matchday staff will enforce this policy, and supporters will be refused entry if in possession of a drum or similar noise-amplifying instrument.
- Drums and other large musical instruments are not permitted within the stadium.
- Air horns and similar devices are prohibited inside the ground in accordance with the English Football League Ground Regulations, as adopted by the club.
- Any prohibited items brought to the ground in error may be placed into the club’s safe keeping and will be returned to the relevant supporter at the conclusion of the match.
North Shields Football Club thanks supporters for their understanding and cooperation as we continue to work towards maintaining positive relationships with our local community.
