MATCH PREVIEW: Horden Community Welfare (H)

After celebrating our return to the Daren Persson Stadium with a sound 2-0 victory over Thornaby, we look forward to another home game. This time, we welcome Horden Community Welfare.

The second of our four home league games in a row sees an 8th-place Robins battle against Horden in 10th, chasing the playoff spots. The playoffs may be too much for the visitors at this stage in the season, but it’s currently all to play for, for Brian Smith’s Robins.

Horden’s last three games include a home win against Carlisle City and two away losses to Marske United and Whitley Bay. They come into the match on Wednesday on a poor run of form, and with nothing to play for anymore, it may be a game for our Robins to capitalise on.

It was a cool day at the office for Brian Smith, as we looked comfortable against a heavily depleted Thornaby side. For a while, it looked like the second goal was never going to come. But the perseverance of our attackers saw the returning Nelson Ogbewe tap the ball home to seal the deal.

Horden Community Welfare’s last game was a tough one for them to swallow. After holding out for 88 minutes against third-place Whitey Bay, Seahorses forward Mackenzie Sharpe broke Horden hearts minutes before the final whistle.

It’s sure to be a fantastic game of football, and we need your support more than ever as we come to the end of the season. Let’s get the gate numbers to 400!
