With the game yesterday being called off, the Robins will be playing in the North East for the first time since their narrow defeat in the FA Vase last weekend, tomorrow night.
Easington Colliery is the next challenge for Shields as we return to EBAC Northern League Division One action. They are currently in sixth, one position outside the playoffs. They are a team with momentum, having won their last three games and averaging two goals per game.
Their attacking output has been on fire as of late, scoring ten goals across those three matches. Shields will have to put out a strong defensive display to keep Easington at bay. Adamson and Stanton seem like their most in-form attackers; however, they have goals all over the park, an astonishing eight goal scorers in the last three matches.
A scathing team talk from Robins’ boss Brian Smith after a disappointing first half led his team to put in a much improved second half performance in the FA Vase, however Ben Sampson’s goal came too late in the tie to give Shields the chance of an equaliser. Brian spoke to us after the game and said “First half was where I think it went wrong for us, we weren’t good enough. We were second best and they were better than us, we were lucky to get in at 1-0.”
The Robins will be looking forward to putting in a much improved performance on a lucky Friday 13th, against top opposition. So come and support the lads if you can. If you’re planning on coming down, safe travels and thank you for all of your support!
