MATCH PREVIEW: Penrith (A)

After the unfortunate events that unfolded in the last game against Thornaby, the Robins look ahead at their next trip away to Penrith.

Both sides currently sit in the middle of the table, the Bonny Blues in 10th with a game in hand, while we sit in 9th. Just three points are separating the two teams, and both teams are looking at this game to climb back up the table.

Our Robins will be facing a Penrith team without their top goal scorer, Luke Hunter. Three days ago, Penrith announced Hunter had departed the club to join National League North side AFC Fylde after scoring an impressive 21 goals in 18 games this season.

The last time the two teams faced each other, the Robins came out on top with a 2-1 win at home on August 27th. Goals for us that day came from Euan Anderson and Lee Nelson, while Hunter added to his goal tally for the opposition before Penrith defender Kevin McKenna received a red card in stoppage time.

Penrith’s recent results suggest they’re experiencing mixed form. The Bonny Blues have won two of their last five games; however, their most recent games suggest a dip in form. Their last game was a thrilling three-all draw against Birtley Town. The Robins have won their last two, including the 5-1 thrashing of Whickham nearly two weeks ago.

Whether you’re making the hour-and-a-half trip yourself or if you’re on a club-sponsored coach, safe travels, and thank you all for your continued support!
