This coming Wednesday Marc Nash and his men pit their skills against local friends and the current holders of the Northumberland Senior Cup Blyth Spartans at the Daren Persson Stadium.

Blyth Spartans, are managed by a familiar face and friend of the club Graham Fenton who guided the club to Wembley in May 2015 in one of the clubs greatest days out, winning the FA Vase against Glossop North End courtesy of goals from club legends Gareth Bainbridge and Adam Forster.

The Spartans currently find themselves in 23rd place in National League North, with just 1 win in their 5 outings. In recent times however they did force Wrexham to a replay in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round, in which young Robin Rio Joisce was included in the squad for both fixtures.

Shields won’t be taking recent form for granted as they know too well about cup games and how anything can happen, they will be looking for a reaction after a disappointing result at the weekend losing out to a stoppage time winner for Bridlington Town.

With a place in the semi finals on the cards and the prospect of playing at St James Park in the final, it goes without saying that the lads will be fired up for it and doing their all to ensure they are in the draw for the next round.

We hope you can join us and cheer on the lads!
