Table-topping North Shields welcome second placed Hebburn Town to the Daren Persson Stadium in what will be the Robins toughest test of the season so far.
After a fantastic start to the season, Saturday’s 2-1 win over Shildon saw Shields climb to the summit of the Northern League Division One table, courtesy of goals from Dan Wilson and Andrew Cartwright.
However, the Hornets are right on their heels, having won all four games this season against Shildon, West Auckland Town, Seaham Red Star and Whickham. They would have had the opportunity to move up to first themselves, but for the postponement of their game against Consett at the weekend.
From those four games, Kev Bolam’s side have scored 12 goals, whilst only conceding once, in their most recent game against the Lang Jacks. Graeme Armstrong leads the way once again for tomorrow’s visitors with eight goals.
But North Shields have a red-hot goal scorer of their own, with Wilson bagging eight goals from five games, including a well-taken first half effort at home against Shildon.
Last season, both sides only faced each other once, with Hebburn coming out on top at the Darren Persson Stadium, winning 5-1 courtesy of a Graeme Armstrong hattrick and goals from Jack Robson and Luke Sullivan.
The reverse fixture never took place as the season was brought to an end due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tomorrow evening’s game is completely sold out, with any returned tickets to be made available for sale from the club house. Any news regarding ticket availability will be announced on our official social media channels.
