Triple signing for The Robins

North Shields can announce the first three signings for the upcoming season. The Robins welcome; Nick Cassidy, Scott McCarthy and Ben Christensen to the club!

Nick joins us after an impressive two-season spell with Consett AFC where he played a pivotal part in the Durham Challenge Cup success in 2017.

Initially joined the Steelmen on a month’s loan from Gateshead in 2016, however, a nasty injury suffered in a League Cup game against Norton & Stockton Ancients ruled him out for the rest of that campaign.

Upon his release from the Heed at the end of that season, Consett didn’t hesitate in securing his services on a permanent basis.

The signing of Nick adds even more versatility to the Robins line up as not only can he play in midfield, he has comfortably played at right-back.

Scott has experience of playing at a high level after coming through a Middlesbrough academy side in 2015 which at the time competed in the U21 Premier League.

He went on to score two goals in nine appearances before leaving the Boro for Bishop Auckland in 2015.

Following his time with the Two Blues, he joined Newcastle Benfield and became an important part of their first team, scoring a hat trick and earning the man of the match award in their game against Penrith on October 21, 2018.

After announcing his departure from Benfield during the summer of 2019, Marc and Woody were quick to snap up the attacker who is knows for his lightning speed and his ability to score a spectacular goal or two.

North Shields Football Club are delighted to announce that versatile defender Ben Christensen has signed on for the 2019/20 season.

Ben is a solid and experienced defensive player who likes to get stuck in and will not shy away from a battle on the pitch.

He is comfortable playing anywhere across the defence and has often been described as having real leadership qualities.

Ben spent five seasons in total with Division One side Ashington before making the move at the start of last season to local rivals Whitley Bay.

After an impressive season with the Seahorses, the Robins fought off competition from a number of clubs to secure his services for next season.

We are absolutely thrilled to have Nick, Scott & Ben at the club and look forward to seeing them take his place in the Robins line up!
