It’s that time again! El Coastico returns to the Daren Persson Stadium tomorrow afternoon, as North Shields FC take on Whitley Bay FC in the EBAC Northern League Division One.
Given how many times our cup derby at Hillheads has been postponed, I’m hoping karma doesn’t bite us and that the game will go ahead.
Whitley Bay still sit third in the league table on a healthy 66 points, after their 5-0 thrashing of second-bottom Northallerton Town. The playoffs are pretty much guaranteed for them, and they have a very good chance of winning the whole thing.
Danger man Mackenzie Sharpe scored a hat-trick in his last game, making it four goals in two, and he’s on top form, ready for tomorrow’s derby.
Brian Smith told us there’s no need for him to hype up his players for the occasion, and that they’d do it themselves. After our last match aganst Horden C.W, Robins forward Dean Holmes said: “We just have to rest and recover, it was nice that some people got a rest tonight that will no doubt play on Saturday.”
It was another comfortable affair for Shields on Wednesday night, with a 3-1 win over Horden C.W. Horden didn’t really test goalkeeper Callum Elliot; their only real chance was the goal from Angus Philly.
The Robins looked comfortable on the ball and put together some great moves, mainly the one leading to Blair Adams’ goal. Blair was the man of the match on the night, but a few of the players that day could’ve got the award.
It’s sure to be a match to remember tomorrow, and with all of the offers and prizes available tomorrow, it’s best to get down early and enjoy everything North Shields FC has to offer.
