North Shields will be aiming to bounce straight back from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Shildon when they host Thornaby at the Daren Perrson Stadium tomorrow evening.
The defeat in County Durham, which saw Shildon score three times in the space of eight minutes, brought to an end the Robins’ 12-game unbeaten run in disappointing fashion.
But with a return to action so soon after, the Robins will be looking to get back to winning ways, heading into what will be a busy fortnight for the club.
After a run of four games, which saw Thornaby climb away from the bottom of Division One, tomorrow’s guests have suffered another blip in form, with three straight defeats against Seaham Red Star, Whickham, and Newton Aycliffe leaving the Blues only two points off the bottom.
Another problem for Thornaby is that despite having one of the league’s best strikers in Adam Preston, the goals have dried up, with the club not scoring in their previous three games.
The 3-0 loss for North Shields on Saturday represented the first time since the 28th September where we haven’t scored a goal, with that game ending as a 0-0 draw against Billingham Town.
But since then, our goal scoring record is impressive as we have scored a whopping 33 times, a record no team in the league wants to face against.
The last time we faced tomorrow’s guests was all the way back in 2014, with two goals from Gareth Bainbridge handing us a comfortable 2-0 home win in front of a crowd of 151.
