Match Preview: Guisborough Town v North Shields (FA Cup EPR Replay)

The Robins progression in this seasons’ FA Cup hinges on an Extra Preliminary Round replay tomorrow night against Guisborough Town at the King George V Ground.

After Connor Campbell gave the Robins a 2-0 lead at the half way stage of Saturday’s match against the Priorymen, Daniel Earl popped up late on to force the game to be replayed in North Yorkshire.

If this replay is level after 90 minutes, the game will go to extra time and penalties; with a winner being decided on the night one way or another. Tomorrow’s victors will then face a trip to Seaham Red Star in Preliminary Round.

The Robins have had a busy start to their season and have earned one win, one loss and one draw from their first three games (Whickham, Sunderland RCA and Guisborough Town respectively).

Despite the seemingly inconsistent start, the Robins have performed well so far this season and if not for terrential rain during the second half of Saturday’s game, a replay would likely not have been needed.

What was also noticeable from Saturday was that it was the third game in a row in which Marc Nash selected the same starting eleven. With games coming thick and fast at the start of the season, it will be interesting to see if Nashy elects to make any changes.
