Tonight we welcome Alnwick Town to the Daren Persson for our final pre-season friendly with the opening day of the season just around the corner.
Saturday saw us return from North Yorkshire with a hard earned win in adverse weather conditions courtesy of goals from Connor Gales and Brad Hird securing a 2-1 win. A thoroughly deserved win in tough conditions, in which were on top for large spells and created lots of good goal scoring opportunities.
Moving onto tonight we welcome Ritchie Latimer’s team to the Daren Persson Stadium for their second pre-season friendly after Saturday’s Gateway Cup tournament held at Blyth Town was called off due to the adverse weather conditions.
The one pre-season game they have played, saw them play out a 1-1 draw with Gateshead Leam Rangers. They will provide a good test in our final pre-season game, as they will be looking to ready themselves for their own league campaign starting on the 5th August when they welcome Ponteland United to St James Park.
With the opening day of the season fast approaching tonight will be an ideal opportunity for Dan and his team to add the finishing touches and also for the lads to get more vital minutes under their belts.
