After facing heartbreak at the death in Wednesday’s FA Cup replay, the Robins look ahead to a tough test in the EBAC Northern League Division One against top of the table and the league favourites, Bishop Auckland.
Bishops currently sit at the top of the league table, winning four games and losing one so far this campaign. They have a perfect winning record away from home, including a six-nil trouncing of Shields’ next opponent in the calendar, Horden. They have kept clean sheets in all three away ties and seem to be unstoppable on the road.
After adding veteran league talent like Craig Moody and Alfie Steels, Bishop Auckland are well stocked to deal with the trials and tribulations of Division One football.
Shields have been locked in a battle in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, in which after 180+ minutes of football, a Consett double in stoppage time denied Brian Smith’s side the chance to move on in our 75th year in the competition.
The return of key players, such as Ben Sampson and Jordan Lashley have given the Robins a boost, just in time for the heavy upcoming fixture schedule.
Despite a mixed start to the season, two wins in four has seen the Robins land themselves in sixth place. They have a game in hand over fifth-placed Whickham.
Both teams will want to gain some momentum for the long run of league fixtures ahead, so it’s looking to be a fiery match tomorrow afternoon.
If you’re coming to the match tomorrow, thank you all for your amazing support, and…
HOWAY THE ROBINS!
