North Shields FC has launched a fundraising campaign to create a brand-new fan-zone recreational area and external bar at the Daren Persson Stadium — a lasting tribute to beloved club legend Curtis Coppen.
The club is aiming to raise £10,000 to fund the project, which will serve as both a hub for supporters on matchdays and a permanent memorial to one of the most influential figures in recent club history.
Curtis was more than just a player — he was the soul of the dressing room, a leader, a friend, and a true Robin through and through, This fan-zone is about bringing people together, just as Curtis always did, and giving our fans a space to celebrate football, friendship, and community.
The proposed development includes:
- A new covered seating and social area
- An external bar and refreshment space
The initiative is part of the club’s broader commitment to improving facilities for fans, families, and the wider community — all while honouring the legacy of one of its greatest ambassadors.
The project has already received strong backing from fans, former players, and local supporters, with early donations beginning to flow in.
