We welcome Dave Wilds’ Runcorn Linnets to the Daren Persson Stadium in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying round this Saturday, 24th September.
In the last round both sides enjoyed midweek wins with the Linnets seeing off their west division compatriots Workington with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Zack Clarke and Jamie Rainford.
Shields got past Pontefract Collieries courtesy of goals from Regan Paterson, Connor Oliver and Brad Hird.
The Linnets sit in 6th place picking up 10 points from their opening 6 games in the west division.
Last season they finished in the play-offs beating Leek Town in the semi’s 4-1 before losing 2-1 to Marine in the final.
The last time the Robins reached the second qualifying round was back in the 1991-92 season, when they were defeated 4-1 away to Southport.
Marc Nash and his squad will go into this game full of confidence on the back of two wins in succession and will be looking to put their names in the hat for the next round.
