Percy Main FC v North Shields (Friendly)  31/07/2009 21:24

This Saturday (1st August, kick off 15:00) see Shields make the short trip to Percy Main to compete for the Gary Hull Memorial Trophy. Gary was a well known and well liked club official at Percy Main FC and The Robins have played in and won the trophy on the last three occasions.
This game is the final pre-season game before the big kick off next week at Washington and will give the manager a final chance to be impressed by the fringe players as he looks to decide on his starting 11.
All supporters are encouraged to go to he game with the takings going to charity. The postcode for the ground is NE29 6HS and will give supporters a chance to see the first silverware in the cabinet for the forthcoming season.

North Shields 2 Whitley Bay 2  30/07/2009 21:20

An entertaining night at RGP resulted in Shields twice coming back to deservedly hold the FA Vase winners to a draw.
The first 20 minutes was dominated by The Robins with numerous half chances and a harshly disallowed goal for a foul. Bay came back into the game later in the half and hit the cross bar as well as missing a seemingly open goal. The lead was Whitley’s coming up to half time as a shot was dispensed which keeper Robinson will have been disappointed with conceding. Both teams came out firing and Shields drew lever as the Beckham-ess Colin McKenzie spotted the keeper off his line and lobbed from 30 yards. Bay came back into the game strongly and retook the lead with the keeper being rounded and the goal scored.
A strong response from the Division 2 side saw a succession of corners eventually dispatched as the Whitley second choice keeper flapped. The game was end to end for the final minutes in which both teams had chances to win it but the happier of the two teams will undoubtedly be The Robins as they really pushed a near full strength Whitley Bay team.

North Shields v Whitley Bay (Friendly)  29/07/2009 20:01

The BIG North East derby sponsored by Eastcoast Taxis takes place this Thursday (30th July, 19:30 kick off) as Ralph Gardner Park in the venue of The Robins taking on 2009 FA Vase Winners Whitley Bay. The Hillheads outfit will be bringing along the trophy and this is an opportunity for the Shields faithful to applaud the achievement of our nearest and dearest!
Player manager Anthony Woodhouse will sit the game out against his former club. This fixture will give him a good idea s to who will be in the starting 11 against Washington in just over a week.
Bay, like Shields, has a game on Tuesday night and they came away with a 7-0 win away at Alliance side Alnwick Town.
This fixture is a great opportunity to gauge the progress of the club under the stewardship of Woody and Smithy and a victory would have local supporters identifying Shields as promotion candidates ahead of the new season.
Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
