I’m the official North Shields FC website administrator\editor and forum moderator. I’m new to Shields having previously been a Newcastle Blue Star supporter. I started watching Star in the late 80’s and eventually moved on to NUFC where I had a season ticket for 17 years. I started watching Star again on a regular basis 2 years ago and 6 months ago became their website editor. Unfortunately Star are no more and after losing interest in NUFC of late I approached the Shields management in May 2009 about joining the club and managing all aspects of the site. They gladly accepted my offer. I’m looking forward to watching Shields next season and building an affinity with the club and starting what I hope will be a long chapter in my football supporting life.

I did not get in to football untill i was eleven years old and by this time the old Appleby Park ground was in the prosess of being pulled down only the NORTH SHIELDS AFC LTD banner along with the turnstiles remaind. And one day in 96 i was wanding around North Shields and just happend to wonder down to west percy road and there was a football match an under 19s game I asked "whos playin ?" and it was then i found out that North Shields had started again and i went down to the same place that saturday the Robbins were playing Whitehaven in the Wearside League first Division and the robins winning 4-1 that was the season Micky Kelly signed for the robins the manager that brought him in was one Willf Keilty and i started from then omn in realy. then in Pre-Season 98 I started to go to Away games my first AWAY game wa on the twentyforth of april 99 when North Shields played in the Northumberland Senior Bowl the final was at Morpeth Town`s Craik Park North Shields beating the Bewick out fit from the aliance premier 2-0 Olli and brunskill were the scorers that night then that was the season the robins won the Wearside League after entring LATE in the september of 92 just aeight or so weeks for disolving but still playing there Home games at Appleby Park untill 9th of December 92 where Stanley United were the LAST EVER club to vist the best ground grass roots football ever had
and on another note how menny suporters have played there club three games on three diffrent venues and won all of them and captened the club too!
W 4-2 A Murton W 3-1 N Heddon W 12-0H Kicks
so my stats stand at P3 W3 D0 L0 F19 A2
I only conceded one of those two goals at Murton
DREMS CAN CUME TRUE!!!

Overweight but still a devil with the women, I can`t help it if I still look like Elvis at my age.
Used to watch Pterborough at Appleby Park when we used to play them.
Can`t wait to get back to that level.
Will never give up supporting The Robins.

I started supporting North Sheilds for 2 main reasons. My cousins husband (Red Mist) is a regular at RGP and I bumped into him at the first game I attended at RGP. This was on 15 August 2006 and was a 2-2 draw with Ryton.
The second reason is my great grandfather John Wynn was signed by North Shields from Cardiff City for the 1928-29 Season. He was originally from the North East but ended up down in Cardiff. He just played for Shields for 1 season before moving to his homw town club Wallsend. I know he scored at least 18 goals helping Sheilds to promotion that season.
Sadly after 2 seasons at Wallsend his life was tragically cut short. On the 22 July 1931 being the soprtsman he was, he stepped in as the 11th man in a friendly cricket match at Holy Cross due to them being a man short. First ball hit him square in the chest and he dropped down dead at 27 years old leaving behind a wife and 2 young sons. I am very proud to be related to this man and proud of his efforts for North Shields.
This is my first year where I will there every week as I have given up my Sunderland season ticket due to the cost involved and there being far to much money at the top of the game. Hoping we have a fantastic season this year and the early signs are we should improve on last years league position.

I have been following North Shields for ages. Me and my friend used to be ball boys at Appleby Park for a while and then we went to watch the games when we were older as I only lived down the road from Appleby Park. I remember going to watch North Shields v Halifax at halifax and North Shields won 1-0 and it was a great day out. North Shields had a decent team at Appleby Park and used to get decent crowds at the ground. I was devastated when the club folded as they seem to be doing okay. So I was over the moon when they got the ground at RGP and have been going there for a long time. They ahd a great manager called Terry not sure of his surname but they had a quality team and kept winning the league and trophies but for some reason he left and they have gone backwards since. Now I go and stand with the Shields Ultras at home games and we have some good crack

I started following Shields about 5 seasons ago. Similar to Mad World I am disillusioned with the overrated, overpaid pansies currently playing professional football, so I chucked my Newcastle season ticket and joined the Ultras. I`ve not looked back since. The banter is better, the games are passionate, and this year we look like we could do well. I admire the efforts of the committee, and all involved at Shields, who have worked tirelessly to transform our club over the last 12 months.

The Robins? Officially my first club thanks to my Dad ( who has also managed the club), since the late late 60`s. Too many memories to mention here, good and bad. A huge thanks online to all at Shields who have kept the flag flying throughout the last 20 years or so, and a big thanks to whoever is responsible for this site, well done and keep the good work up. Iv`e just been looking at the archive and noticed that Horden pulled in a crowd of 18 against the mighty reds 3 seasons ago!!!! One of the mad surreal reason why we follow and support non league football. Good to see the Robins goal legend Andy Hay has come back home, I work with him so plenty grief going his way if we don`t win.

I`m originally from Dundee and have lived in Shields now for four years. I am a Dundee FC fan and have decided to also the Robins this season. When I`m not up at Dens, I`ll be at Gardener Park following the Reds as well as the Dark Blues. As part of the Benfield Ultras who now follow the Robins, we are going to sponsor Shields legend Andy Hay and very much enjoyed my first match on Monday against Northumbria and enjoyed the pies!!

Well . . . . I attended my first Robins game for many a year yesterday and whilst the performance wasn`t blistering I had a great afternoon.
The last time I watched Shields was back at Appleby Park and I can remember watching the homecoming of the 1969 side after winning the cup. I am sooo old :(
The craic from the guys in red behind me made me laugh throughout the game and reminded me of what football is really about.
I will definatley be back on Tuesday.

I used to watch Shields in the sixties and seventies and was at Wembley in 69` as a very excited 12 year old ! On the way back from Wembley we changed trains at York and in the Station Bar, my old man got talking to one Brian Clough, who had recently been appointed manager of Derby County. He congratulated us us on our victory and wished us well .My days of watching the Robins came to an end when , in early 1980, i moved , to Derby ironically for work . Life took over and consequently i have missed a lot of the recent history of the club but am now a keen observer of results etc via this excellent website and will be taking in games whenever possible on future visits to Shields. I have been managing in local football in the Derby area for 20 years and one of the clubs i have been involved with is Mickleover Sports FC who some may remember played Bedlington Terriers in the infamous match when the floodlights failed.Looking forward to more success for the Robins !!!!!!!!!

Interesting!
First saw Shields play Spartans at Appleby Park in a cup game around 71 or 72 - can just remember Blyth winning 2-0 and there being that many people there, that the rail collapsed at the High School End!
As everybody knows Appleby Park was a wonderful football ground, a bit dilapidated in it`s latter years, but certainley put all others at it`s level to shame.
Went to a few games per season usually when Newcastle weren`t playing or there was a good game on before my imagination was fired by the club joining the Northern Counties East League in the summer of 89 - with great promises by thoe in charge about how the club was to rise up the leagues etc.
Had a great 3 seasons following Shields to all kinds of places in the NCEL, FA Cup etc and usually on the team bus - what a hammer blow it was when the club went under in `92, perhaps not totally unexpected to many given the players that were at the club, wages, poor crowds, non existent sponsorship etc and general apathy of the North Shields public.
Apart from the first season when Shields got promoted from the Wearside Second division, the first few seasons in that league were pretty desperate to be honest, with the club sometimes struggling to put 11 out on the pitch! But all that changed with the arrival of Barry Sill in `98 and his bunch of mainly Teeside based players.
I joined the committee doing bits and pieces and had a hand in a lot of the ground development which took place at the beginning of the millenium. The next few seasons saw some more great football played, with some fine players weraing the red shirt (which has been well documented elsewhere) as Terry Paddison and others took up the mantle.
Work commitments and general disillusionment with a lot of things saw me leave the club in 2002 and I was later lured to Percy Main by my life long ex school friend, the late Gary Hull.
I also helped out in a coaching capacity with the team that is now North Shields Ladies and my daughter played for them for 5 years, I am still great friends with the manager Gordon (even though he leads me astray and gets me drunk!)
Still take an interest on how Shields are doing and manage to pop down to the odd game every now and again!

Hi.
I am 17 and have lived in Shields all my life but never really had an interest in non-league football. After hearing stories from my grandad of the FA amateur cup final in 1979 or some date like that and how great it was i decided to check out the website and the club looks like it is doing well this season so may pop down to watch a few matches.

Been watching the Robins on and off since the later 80`s, regularly for the past 5 years. Used to walk along Verne Road on a mid-week game, over and down Kimberley Avenue and all you could see was Appleby Park floodlights (what a sight), a get goosebumps now just thinking about it!
You just don`t realise what a cracking little ground that was - can just see Barry Wardrobe, Pyler and the like on that hallowed turf, loved it and hope one day to see canny shields in Div 1 with bigger regular crowds(good to see 100+ through the gate at the minute)
Towards the end of last season and this seasons games we`ve come on along way compared to the last few years - by, they were hard work.
Just want to finish off by saying (should`ve put this first really) that chairman Al and all behind the scene, got so much respect for them, they do it for the sheer love of it. While I`m on with commending folk, can I just say Scottie, the work you do for the fan`s on the website is 1st class.
Keep it up. My dream would be to get those 6 numbers up and plough it, well some of it into NORTH SHIELDS FC. (the other half doesn`t know this tho!!)

I have lived in North Shields for a few years and have attended Ralph Gardner Park for only a handful of matches. (Seaham Red Star in about 2005 being my first visit)
However, I attended the Whitehaven Earnest Armstrong match on Tuesday and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. (apart from the obvious part, ie scoreline)
Not only were there some special goals but to see the Ultra`s live, was also worthy of mention!!
I`m hoping to make some (maybe not Whitehaven) of the remaining three games and would like to think I would become more of a regular next season.
