A good win for the lads this afternoon, but the event is always more important than the result in this one. As usual the game was a good competitive affair with chances for both sides. I thought Coxy, Mo and Wrighty stood out for Shields. I also think Chris Farman is playing well in these friendlies. I reckon he is a pretty capable replacement for Smithy on current form, as his distribution has been good and he is a big lad too. Woody is going to struggle deciding who to start, as we have a really decent squad assembled for this season.
Tony Browell always impresses, and Percy Main are going to be difficult to beat in their league this year. Thanks to Norman and the lads for your hospitality, which was excellent as usual.

good luck for the villagers season norman. for what its worth, i didnt think it was a 4-1 type of game.
think shields have got to make the most of playing coxy in a more advanced position like today, he caused havoc at times today, got to keep him involved a lot. last season he was wasted at wing back, could be a big season for him.
the no 3 and wrighty look a good pairing down the left, good luck to them two.
the no 2`s a new un on me, canny game, who`s he and where from. anyway, this is it now, the real stuffs upon us next week. all the best to woody and fents with their squad, there puttin a canny team together for the locals to be proud of. a can just hear the echoing sound of `champions` by those hardcore ultras in april! no pressure then!!
p.s. it`s an easy game init on the other side of the barrier!!

Thanks to everyone for playing in (that`s male and female!) and to those coming to the game - a fantastic day all round (as usual!)
Best of luck to Shields for the coming season.
Norman
